Biden, Trump tied in head-to-head match-up: Survey

President Biden and former President Trump are tied in a new poll examining the head-to-head race between the two White House candidates.

Marquette Law School Poll Among registered voters surveyed ahead of the expected rematch in November, Biden and Trump each had a 50 percent approval rating.

If we add in three third-party candidates — Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Jill Stein and Cornel West — Trump has a three-point lead, with Kennedy taking 17% of the vote, Biden 37% and Trump 40%.

While Trump’s lead is within the poll’s margin of error, or 4.6 percentage points, the result still highlights concerns about how a third-party candidate could affect a close rematch between Biden and Trump.

Both Biden and Trump are on track to win their state primaries ahead of their party conventions this summer, but both sides remain vulnerable to protest votes that could derail either’s path to victory.

Trump’s former rival, Nikki Haley, is still garnering significant votes in several state Republican primaries weeks after dropping out of the race in March, and progressives are casting “no-questions-asked” protest votes against Biden in Democratic primaries to express their discontent over the Israel-Hamas war.

The former president faces multiple criminal charges, including a trial in New York for allegedly falsifying business records, and is campaigning aggressively to return to the White House.

A Marquette University poll found that 54% believe Trump acted illegally in the incident, 27% believe he did something wrong but not illegally, and 19% believe he did nothing wrong.

The poll was conducted among 902 registered voters from May 6-15 and has a margin of error of 4.6 percentage points.
