Biden, Trump tied in head-to-head Virginia matchup: Survey

A new poll shows President Biden and former President Trump tied in a head-to-head race in Virginia.

Roanoke College investigation The head-to-head support for the two presidential candidates in the state is at 42 percent each, marking the first time that pollsters have reported that Biden and Trump are tied.

If other candidates are included, Biden leads Trump by two points (40 percent to 38 percent), within the poll’s margin of error.

While only 2% of Old Dominion voters say they are undecided at this point in the race, 14% say they would vote for a candidate outside of one of the two major parties in a Biden-Trump matchup and 20% say they would vote for a candidate outside of one of the two major parties in a five-way race.

Trump has singled out Virginia as one of the traditionally Democratic states he hopes to win back in the fall, said Chris LaCivita, a senior adviser to his campaign. NBC News Earlier this month, Trump said he has a “real opportunity to grow his base in Virginia and Minnesota.”

Biden nearly beat Trump in Virginia 500,000 votes A four-year-old survey, the Decision Desk HQ/The Hill polling average currently shows Biden leading the former president in the state by just one point.

The Institute for Policy and Public Opinion Research (IPOR) at Roanoke College conducted the survey of 711 Virginia voters from May 12-21, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.24 percentage points.
