According to Decision Desk Headquarters, President Biden is expected to win the Democratic primary in Washington state.
Mr. Biden was not expected to face stiff competition in the Evergreen state, which gives 92 delegates to Democrats.
But organizers angered by the Biden administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war have launched a campaign urging Democratic primary voters to vote “irresponsibly.” The campaign is supported by Seattle’s American Federation of Teachers 1789, as well as Food and Commercial Workers United 3000, the state’s largest labor union.
This campaign is similar in nature to the “Uncommitted” campaign that began in Michigan, where Democratic voters were encouraged to vote “Uncommitted” in the primary. The effort received 13% of the vote in the Great Lakes states and was also gaining traction in Minnesota, where “uncommitted” votes received 19% of the total votes cast.
Democrats are expected to easily win Washington state in November, given that Biden won the state by nearly 20 points over former President Trump in 2020.
