(News Nation) — liberal commentator and one-time Democratic presidential candidate Cenk Uyghur He said there is “zero chance” that President Biden will be re-elected.
“He’s definitely, definitely, definitely going to lose. He has no chance of winning,” Uyger told NewsNation Digital at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
“Eight out of 10 people think his brain isn’t working. To nominate a person who 80 percent of the public literally doesn’t think has a functioning brain means the entire party’s brain isn’t working.”
Uygur, co-producer of the liberal news and commentary program “Young Turks” He criticized the Democratic Party for not nominating another candidate this year, citing Biden’s declining mental health, as “completely crazy.”
“That didn’t happen at the debate, it’s just that people became aware of it at the debate,” he said.
“They tried to get rid of him a year ago and it was obvious,” Uygur said. Running for the Democratic nomination It began in October last year but was suspended in March.
Uygur has unsuccessfully attempted to get his name on the primary ballot in several states, being rejected on the grounds that he is not a “natural-born citizen of the United States” as defined by Article II of the U.S. Constitution. Uygur was born in Turkey.
Call for “unity” is a “joke”
He said calls for American unity since the assassination attempt on former President Trump were “a travesty.”
“I don’t think anybody is actually pushing it. They’re just paying lip service to it. Republicans are itching to attack Democrats. What are they going to do? Are they going to suddenly ‘kumbaya’ to Trump? They’re not going to do that,” he said.
Uygur said some degree of “unity” is evident but that neither side is interested in pursuing it.
“I’m with J.D. Vance on holding the bankers accountable. But when I say that, Democrats say, ‘You can’t do that! J.D. Vance is a fascist! How dare you do that!’ He’s with us! Go win! He’s with us.” Elizabeth Warren. “Matt Gaetz is working with AOC on an anti-corruption bill. Let’s win! There are certainly ways we can come together, but if we try to do that, both sides will get their heads chopped off,” he said.
Hatred and stupidity prevent Republican victory
Uyger also cited two examples of Republican stupidity, starting with the Secret Service’s response to the shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday and the slamming by some Republicans of the female agents who surrounded Trump.
“That woman would have taken a bullet for Donald Trump. She risked her life to save your monster. And rightly so. I’m glad he’s safe… I’m glad she did her job. She would have taken a bullet for him and now you’re going to insult her?” he said.
Looking at the bigger picture, Uyger said Republicans can not only win in November, but also achieve big wins by changing national attitudes.
“If they would stop hating all of us, they would win in a landslide victory. There is a populist atmosphere in this country, but they are pretending to be populist. If they stopped hating women and all minorities, they would win easily! But they can’t help it,” he said.
