MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace said Thursday after the presidential debate that aides to President Joe Biden are debating whether he should run for president.
“I heard some of that on the phone after it came out, but there are conversations happening within Biden’s inner circle and certainly more frank conversations happening within the Democratic coalition. I think there’s going to be a lot of concern being expressed about tonight’s performance,” Wallace said.
Host Rachel Maddow asked, “When you say conversations are happening, what do you mean?”
“I think there was a lot of talk going on, from whether he should race tomorrow morning to how he was doing. He had a cold and Kelly O’Donnell reported that a few minutes later,” Wallace said.
She added: “The reason reporters were reporting on the cold is exactly as you described. The voice was very, very soft. It wasn’t Joe Biden’s performance at the State of the Union. It wasn’t Joe Biden’s offensive on January 6th. It wasn’t Joe Biden going on the offensive on abortion. Those are his two shining issues.”
