Biden’s Family Advisers ‘Indulging Him’ by Saying There’s a Path Forward

David Axelrod, a senior CNN political commentator and adviser to former President Barack Obama, said on “OutFront” Friday that advisers to President Joe Biden’s family are “coddling the president” by telling him he has a path forward as a presidential candidate.

“I think people who care about the president, his family, do, but I think his family advisers are coddling him by telling him there’s a way forward. I think there’s a big risk in this. I think this will be a hallmark of him if he moves forward. He’s had an extraordinary career. I worked with him in the White House. I was happy to work with them in the White House. I think he was a tremendous asset to President Obama. He did some really great things as president, got Donald Trump out of the White House, which was a great service to the country, but now that he’s been told he can win the election, it feels increasingly out of reach to give back,” Axelrod said.

She added, “Trump is going to see more and more competitive candidates running away from him. So this is not a good direction and Trump needs to embrace that fact. We know Trump cares about this country, we know he cares deeply about the threat that Trump poses, and he needs to act on it.”
