Biden’s Pardons Concerning, Sets Bad Precedent

Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) said Monday on CNN's “News Central” that President Joe Biden's decision to pardon 37 of 40 federal death row inmates to life in prison without parole is alarming. He said it would set a precedent.

Host Kate Bolduan said, “I want to hear about the breaking news we saw this morning that President Biden has announced commuting the sentences of all but three people on federal death row, a move that will block the next president. It was intended to be done.” Prevents restarting a stopped run. He has hinted at that, pointed it out in his statement, and said that in good conscience I cannot stand back and allow a new administration to resume executions that I have halted. said. Is that okay? ”

“You know, I have great concerns about the death penalty in general, but I'm also concerned about the executive branch overturning cases that have been decided in courts across the country,” Quigley said. Therefore, I understand the Trump administration's future concerns and threats regarding these matters. But basically, if you think that justice was not served in such a case, I think you would commute the sentence or give him a pardon, which goes far beyond him forgiving his own son. We set a precedent here, which I think was also a mistake, because no one is above the law.”

Mr Bolduan said: “I think it's an interesting point that you're trying to make, which is that they use pay cuts as a key point in their policy to stop the next government coming into power from implementing policies that they believe in. It's going to be different than what you're looking at with Hunter Biden.”

Mr. Quigley said, “You absolutely know.”
