Hurricane Helen caused extensive damage, killing at least 215 Americans and leaving thousands homeless. Entire communities such as Chimney Rock, North Carolina, are in ruins. Many people remain stranded, helpless and in dire need of supplies.
President Joe Biden expressed understanding of the impact of the disaster as he read a speech in some of the affected states this week.

“Sorry?” the 81-year-old president responded, having just finished praising former Jan. 6 committee member Liz Cheney for her alleged “physical courage” in supporting Kamala Harris.
“What do storm zone states need? What do they need after what you saw today?” the reporter said.
“Oh, storm zone? I'm curious what storm you're talking about,” Biden said. “They have everything they need. They are very happy overall.”
Biden's apparent confusion about “which storm” was in question and his description of those affected by Hurricane Helen as “happy” sparked concern and anger.

Megan Dry, of Asheville, North Carolina, revealed earlier this week that she is not happy after recently losing her parents and 7-year-old son Micah in the storm.
“My sadness today is immeasurable.” said Drai stressed that since then, she has been supported only by prayers. “I'm sad. It's heartbreaking.”
The tearful mother hugged her crying sister and added, “I'm so proud of my son, because in his last moments he wasn't screaming for me. I was crying out, “Jesus, Jesus, save me. Jesus, I hear you.'' Jesus, I'm calling out to you. His wildest dreams, and everything he wanted to be, was a superhero, and that was his goal in life, and instead, he became more than physical, more than human, and an adult. Having reached something beyond even adulthood, I think, my son called out to Almighty God, and in that moment he was saved. ”
Critics seized on Biden's confusion as further evidence that Kamala Harris was hiding disqualifying acts of corruption from the American people.
