David Axelrod, a senior CNN political commentator and former adviser to former President Barack Obama, said on “The Source” Thursday that President Joe Biden’s advisers have not been honest about the president’s chances of winning the election.
“When he was asked those questions, he didn’t really have a good answer for what people should expect in the future based on what they’re seeing now,” Axelrod said. “So I don’t think things have changed very much. I think a lot of the thinking has hardened now. I don’t think he’s going to change that.”
He added: “Finally, maybe he’d change his mind if his team came to him and said he couldn’t win, but they haven’t done that, and they haven’t said someone else is more likely to win. If they did, then they’re not telling him honestly how this race is going. And they should. It’s not fair to him to not tell him the truth. He’s not in a very tough position. I don’t know anybody in politics who can look at the numbers that we see and say he has a very good chance of winning this race, and maybe it’s not more likely that someone else is going to win. He needs to know that.”
