Grand Canyon's Molly Miller will be the next head coach ArizonaWomen's basketball program, several sources familiar with the situation told SB Nation.
The 38-year-old Miller led Grand Canyon to a great season as a Division I team, leading Lopez to his first appearance in the NCAA tournament with 32 program record wins. She was there for five seasons, going 117-37, earning 76% of the game. The Grand Canyon fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, losing 73-60 to Baylor. Miller has been named WAC Coach of the Year this season.
Before grabbing the reins at the Grand Canyon, Miller was 180-17 as Division II head coach at Drury University's alma mater in Missouri.
Initially, Miller was considered the front line to acquire Arkansas jobs. According to multiple sources within the sports, Razorbacks athletic director Hunter Yurachek met up with Miller before the program bid farewell to former coach Mike Neighbors. Miller grew up in Springfield, Missouri, just two hours from the Arkansas campus.
But that encounter with Yurachek happened before Arizona fired Natasha Adair. The Grand Canyon is just 15 miles away from ASU. In theory, the mirror doesn't even have to move to jump from WAC to Power 4.
Molly Miller of Grand Canyon is essentially a choice between Arkansas and Arizona, following multiple sources. She is at the top of the list of both programs. #ncaaw

Arkansas then pivoted the search and measured the interest of other candidates, including UTSA coach Karen Aston, who took Texas to six NCAA tournaments over eight years. Eventually, Razorback settled on hiring Kelsi Music from Oral Roberts and agreed to a five-year deal on Friday with a total annual compensation of $600,000. Music went 57-39 in three seasons at ORU, but since 1983 they have won the team the most of the 24th season.
Miller's Grand Canyon defeated Arizona State 70-59 earlier this season. She currently inherits the Sun Devils team, who has never been to the NCAA Tournament since 2019 and has not enjoyed a winning season since 2020.
Meanwhile, the other Power 4 openings remain in Houston, BYUAuburn and Wisconsin.
