The 2025 Big East Men's Conference Tournament will begin Wednesday with its first round play at Madison Square Garden. And if the overtime thriller between St. John's and Marquette last weekend is any indication, this year's tournament will be a must-see television.
St. John's enters the tournament as the top seed of the Big East thanks to a 18-2 record in conference play. Rick Pipino's team won their first Big East regular season title in 40 years. You may not be able to get the first seed in the NCAA Tournament, but you certainly play in second place.
Redstorm has goodbye to the quarterfinals, as well as second seed Clayton and third seed Connecticut. Clayton scored the second seed with a 15-5 record in the Big East, followed by the 14-6 mark that the Husky posted this season.
The other quarterfinals on Thursday will be between No. 4 Seed Marquette and No. 5 Seed Xavier.
The top four seeds of the Big East to participate in the conference tournament – St. John's, Clayton, Connecticut and Marquette, are considered rock as they are on the field. Xavier is currently sitting firmly in the bubble, so this week he may need a victory or two at Madison Square Garden, if not deeper. However, the Musketeers took part in the Big East Tournament at Hot Streak as they won their final seven matches, including winning Clayton on March 1st.
