When it comes to Big Tech, most people would say Google is on top. Not that “most people” are wrong, considering the fact that Google is the world’s No. 1 search engine and has a hand in every his Android smartphone on the planet. Google also owns YouTube, Fitbit, Waze, and Gmail, the largest email provider since 2004, and is responsible for approving all apps on Google Play. Google directly and continuously interacts with billions of people around the planet.
Anyone who doesn’t suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome or who isn’t a brainwashed liberal knows that big tech companies censor conservatives online. Whether it’s Facebook, Jack Dorsey’s Twitter with the FBI stationed in its San Francisco headquarters, or manipulated search engines, censorship is always prevalent. This is especially true in an election year.
If big tech companies want to cripple you, they can cripple you.
I’m no stranger to Big Tech censorship. I have fallen victim again.
One of my applications is Wimkin social mediaLaunched in September 2020 as a true free speech alternative to Facebook, Twitter (now X), and Instagram, it became subject to mass censorship in January 2021. Wimkin apps have been banned and deplatformed. apple So did Google Play on January 6, 2021, when it was unfairly accused of promoting “riots.” Specifically, it was banned for “inciting violence,” which is even more ridiculous than people claiming Joe Biden is cognitively sound.
If an app is banned by Apple, it is impossible for a non-technical person to sideload the banned app onto an iOS device. Doing something like that requires “jailbreaking” your device, and not many people have the time or inclination to go to that length of effort to use their favorite social media apps. So Apple can cripple any company by deplatforming apps and removing them from every iOS device running in the world overnight. One day he can have access to an app on over a billion iPhones all over the world, and the next day he can’t.
Google Play is different. On android, Apps can be sideloaded, However, if you download it from anywhere other than the Google Play Store, you will receive a warning that says, “This file may harm your device.” How many users saw this warning and immediately refused to download?
Whether it’s iPhone or Android, each app store is designed for user convenience and developer success. Almost all mobile phones in North America use the iOS or Android operating system. Developers have little chance of success if they lose most of North America because two giant app stores don’t like their apps. The power that Apple and Google Play have over developers and users is immense. Wimkin estimates that he loses $4,000 per day in ad monetization if our app is not active on the app store.
If big tech companies want to cripple you, they can cripple you.
After an eight-month legal battle, Wimkin has acquired the rights to return on both Apple and Google Play in September 2021. Currently, Wimkin is releasing app updates for iOS and Google Play that provide new features and a much better experience for users.
Well, that’s what I’m trying to do anyway. Google refused to update the app, but is lying about why.
Google Developers (Google’s software development tools and platforms) informed me last week that it would reject the updated Wimkin app because it lacked “blocking and reporting features for content management.” This is a blatant lie.
In fact, Google’s app review specialists used the Block and Report feature when testing app approvals and reported eight instances of content and users during testing. We immediately filed an appeal and, in addition to the report and screenshots of the blocking feature, we also provided an app review expert’s report proving that they not only saw but used the allegedly missing functionality.
Wimkin’s blocking and reporting features have remained unchanged since it was first released on Google Play in 2020. Since then, many updates have been approved. Nevertheless, our appeal was dismissed on Thursday. There is good reason to believe that Google’s decision is based on his upcoming November election.
Big Tech censorship is very real. Election interference is very real. The fact that Google Play does not approve apps affects approximately 5 million Wimkin users with Android smartphones or tablets. The left is more desperate than ever, as evidenced by the indictment of Trump and censorship in mainstream media, Meta and other Big Tech platforms. Now even app stores are getting involved, inventing the most ridiculous reasons not to approve conservative-leaning apps.
Americans need to be fully aware of what’s headed their way in the November election. The left will stop at nothing to put Biden in office again. It is up to all of us to expose the left and its desperate censorship and election interference practices and ensure free and fair elections. Please be careful. Take care.
