Bijan Robinson excels as Falcons surprise Rams with last-minute field goal

Falcons End Season on a High Note

While the Atlanta Falcons won’t be headed to the NFL playoffs this year, they certainly made a memorable exit as the 2025 season comes to a close.

A standout moment for them was Bijan Robinson’s stunning 93-yard touchdown run, which played a crucial role in their 27-24 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. It gave the Falcons a 7-9 record heading into their final game of Week 18.

This win, albeit just a highlight in an otherwise challenging season, emphasized the hard work put in by the team. However, their position as the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs was solidified after the Rams’ defeat.

Given this context, Rams’ head coach Sean McVay might choose to rest his starters in the upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals, ensuring they’re fit for the wild-card round.

The Rams had a rocky start offensively, especially after their impressive performance against the Seahawks just a week prior. The Falcons’ defense held firm, forced a turnover in the first half, and responded effectively to the Rams’ challenges.

After Robinson’s early touchdown, the Falcons’ momentum was slightly halted, but they quickly forced the Rams to turn the ball over on downs. A crucial interception by Jesse Bates III followed, as he capitalized on a mistake by Matthew Stafford, further swinging the game in Atlanta’s favor.

Despite trailing at one point, the Falcons managed to push their lead to 21-0 by halftime, leaving many wondering about how the Rams would respond. To their credit, the Rams did find the end zone, but not without drama along the way.

Amid some back-and-forth scoring, things heated up in the fourth quarter. A sequence of plays saw the Rams narrowing the gap, tying the game at 24. It wasn’t until a 51-yard field goal attempt by Zane Gonzalez brought the Falcons back into the lead that the game took a turn.

With seconds ticking away, the Rams attempted a last-minute drive but fell short as a crucial pass was ruled incomplete after a review. This wouldn’t be the decisive moment they were hoping for, as they couldn’t garner enough points to steal the win.

Robinson’s performance was impressive, tallying 195 rushing yards and two touchdowns, proving to be pivotal in securing the game for the Falcons, while Cousins contributed modestly in the passing game.

The Falcons’ defense also excelled, keeping the Rams’ key receiver in check, leading to a memorable end to their season.
