Baltimore Ravens Cornerback Bilhal Kone’s Season Cut Short by Injury
During a preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Bilhal Kone faced a devastating leg injury that will sideline him for his entire rookie season.
Head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that Kone suffered a torn ligament in his knee after he went down near the sideline towards the end of the first quarter.
“BK will be out for the season,” Harbaugh told reporters post-game. “Unfortunately, he has a torn ligament in his knee.” Kone’s injury occurred while he was attempting to defend against Colts receiver Ashton Dulin near the end zone. A video circulating on social media shows his left leg at an alarming angle near the knee, causing him visible pain as he remained on the ground before being assisted off the field.
Harbaugh expressed the emotional toll that such injuries take, especially on young players who work hard during the preseason. “It’s really tough to see,” he said. “This play is what he prepared for. It’s hard seeing him in the locker room, but it’s important to remember that if the sun rises tomorrow, everything should be okay.”
Harbaugh reassured fans about Kone’s future, saying, “You will take care of this, you will rehabilitate, and you will be part of our team again.” Kone was a sixth-round draft pick from Western Michigan, where he shone during his last season, recording 70 tackles and nine pass deflections.
This isn’t the first setback for Kone; he had already missed part of training camp earlier this summer due to a shoulder injury.
