Bill Belichick Talks Yoga Benefits for Recovery

So, what’s the deal with “#goatyoga”? Well, it’s somewhat relevant.

On Wednesday, Bill Belichick, the new head coach for the Tar Heels, discussed the advantages of yoga as a recovery method for his football team. This conversation came just months after his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, who was once a college cheerleader, showcased her flexibility. In a viral post, she managed to balance in the air with Belichick’s support.

“In all due respect, what happened here last year across various fields—yoga is more of a recovery technique than a training one. It’s really beneficial for recovery,” Belichick explained, according to 247 Tar Heel.

He continued, “It’s an excellent way for the body to recover, stretch, and promote blood flow after a few days of practice. That’s the main focus.”

As he gears up for the season opener next month, the internet took notice of Hudson’s Instagram posts from their beach trip in Florida last March, where they performed acrobatic poses that highlighted their agility.

In one of her posts, Hudson playfully mentioned, “My Favorite Workout? #Billates,” and included the hashtag “Goatyoga.”

Belichick joined the college coaching scene in December 2024 when he was appointed as UNC’s head coach. Before that, he spent 24 seasons with the New England Patriots, winning six Super Bowls alongside quarterback Tom Brady.

A move to sports media followed after he missed the chance in the NFL recruitment cycle. Meanwhile, Hudson, who began dating Belichick in 2024, has had her involvement in his coaching journey scrutinized lately.

This past April, when questioned about their meeting, Belichick clarified that Hudson had no role in his position at UNC, especially following some mixed messages during a “CBS Morning” interview.

“It’s purely a personal relationship. She has nothing to do with UNC football,” he stated in May. Still, the conversation surrounding Hudson hasn’t quieted down, particularly after she was mentioned in a podcast incident involving comments from Belichick’s supporters.

The Tar Heels are set to host TCU on September 1st.
