Bill Belichick can see the cause Justin Tucker’s kicking woes

One of the greatest football coaches of all time believes he knows what's wrong with one of the greatest kickers of all time.

Justin Tucker has had a surprising slump this year, costing the Ravens multiple times, including missing two field goals and an extra point in a loss to the Eagles last Sunday.

Bill Belichick addresses Tucker's kicking struggles on his SiriusXM show“Let's go!” and painted the problem as fixable.

“From a technique standpoint, obviously something is a little off,” Belichick said.

“But I don't think there's a lack of talent. I think there's something mechanical that he hasn't done consistently. If you have the key to solving that problem, maybe everything will work out.” I guess.”

Nevertheless, Belichick acknowledged that Tucker's kicking woes aren't unique to this season.

“But this obviously goes back a little bit to last year as well, because we had some accuracy issues last year in the ’23 season and this season,” he continued.

“So I think Coach.” [John] Mr. Harbaugh is doing the right thing. I'll stick with Justin Tucker. This man was the most accurate kicker in the history of soccer. He has a lot of height when he gets on the ball. He's been very consistent. He's clearly going through a bit of a rough patch here, but it doesn't seem to me that his level of talent has diminished. There's always something mechanically not right. I think they just have to work hard and try to find it. ”

Tucker made 19 of 27 field goals and 42 of 44 extra points.

This week, there was a statistic that made headlines about the Ravens losing five games by a total of 22 points, and Tucker missed exactly 22 points worth of kicks in those games.

Still, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh didn't sound like he was considering changing kickers after the loss to the Eagles.

“We've been through it. We'll work with each player to get through it. Everything you fight for is to help people succeed, so we're going to get through it.” If you ask me if I'm going to move on from Justin Tucker, I'm not going to do that right now. I don't think that's wise,” Harbaugh said.

“He'll be the first to say he needs to kick as much as he can. If you look at Justin Tucker's history, I think you'd have to say he can do it.”
