Following the Giants’ dismissal of Brian Daboll earlier this week, rumors began circulating linking Belichick to the job. During a media session on Tuesday, he was directly questioned about it.
Belichick emphasized his concentration on Wake Forest, saying, “I mean, I get asked about it sometimes. Look, I’ve been down this road before. I’m focused on Wake Forest. That’s it. And that’s my commitment to this team. And next week is the next opponent and so on. But I’m here to do what’s best for this team.”
Widely regarded as one of the NFL’s greatest coaches, Belichick has claimed six Super Bowl titles as head coach of the New England Patriots, in addition to two won as the Giants’ defensive coordinator under Bill Parcells.
NFL writer Gary Myers, who has authored books like *Once a Giant* and *Brady vs. Belichick: The Dynasty Debate*, has suggested that Belichick would go to great lengths for the Giants position. He remarked, “He will walk from Chapel Hill to East Rutherford for this job, I truly believe.”
Myers added, “I think [Belichick] definitely wants 15 wins to pass [Don] Shura as the winningest coach of all time. And he desperately wants to win the Super Bowl, no matter what. [Tom] Brady.”
Meanwhile, the Giants have a promising roster that includes quarterback Jackson Dart, running back Cam Skatebo, and wide receiver Malik Nabors, along with the current NFL sack leader, Brian Barnes. These talents could attract several coaching candidates, making it an appealing position.
