Bill Belichick New England Patriots With the 2023 NFL season coming to an end, many expected the legendary head coach and arguably first-choice Hall of Fame candidate to sit on the sidelines this season.
That didn't happen, but that doesn't mean Belichick will walk away from the game he loves.
Instead, he's gotten more involved in the NFL, although he apparently enjoyed being a loudmouth behind the microphone during his time as a coach.
Belichick will take on multiple analyst roles heading into next season, including announcing Wednesday that he will take on a role as a “strategic advisor.” The 33rd team, As described in a Wednesday press release, it is an “emerging media and technology company focused on delivering unparalleled NFL insights through an unmatched roster of NFL-experienced contributors.” In addition to this role, Belichick will contribute to the following media outlets throughout the upcoming NFL season:
- Weekly appearances The Pat McAfee Show;
- Peyton and Eli Manning appear in the first half of each episode Manning cast;
- Peyton Manning talks about his future prospects on this Friday show Monday Night Football Match up;
- That's exactly right. Behind the scenes of the NFL Analyzing the NFL with Ryan Clark, Chad Johnson, and Chris Long
- Jim Gray appears in the weekly magazine Let's go SiriusXM programming, and;
- His own show Underdog Fantasy
In many ways, the move highlights something that was part of Belichick's persona during his time in New England. The old adage about Belichick's press conferences was, “Ask him a football question, you'll get football answers.” If you asked Belichick who the starting quarterback would be next week, you'd get the brusque response, “I'm going to Cincinnati.”
But ask about the mechanics of the long snap or blocking angles off an unbalanced line and what you get in return is a lengthy lecture on the history of the game and a detailed analysis of the strategies involved.
In some ways, this future was predicted last winter by Belichick. College Game Day Belichick's appearance before the Army-Navy game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, home of the Patriots, offered a glimpse into his future as an analyst, and it was both entertaining and wonderful.
“I am excited to work with such talented coaches and executives to innovate and advance the way football is taught,” Belichick said in a statement Wednesday. 33rd Team“I look forward to using my years of sports research and coaching experience to help the 33rd team develop analytics that will be a resource for fans, coaches and teams at all levels.”
Like many NFL seasons so far, we're going to see a lot of Belichick in action this year, and maybe even see a lesser known side of him.
But this should help everyone understand the game a little more.
