Bill Belichick secures UNC transfer amid Tom Brady-Raiders rumors

Rumors of an NFL return didn't stop Bill Belichick from shopping North Carolina's transfer portal.

On Tuesday, star college defensive lineman Price Yates signed with the Tar Heels. According to ESPNjoining the legendary soccer coach's impressive lineup of transfers.

UNC currently has commitments from 13 players since Belichick took the reins of the program in mid-December.

Yates played in just seven games for the Huskies this season due to a back injury, but still recorded 21 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

He starred in College's 27-14 win over UNC at the Fenway Bowl on Dec. 28, recording one sack and three tackles for loss and winning the Defensive MVP Award.

Yates' transfer comes just over a week after UW head coach Jim Mora was fired by the team for allegedly “misconducting” with Huskies players during this transfer round.

“Just a quick reminder to schools and coaches who have blatantly broken @NCAAFootball rules, including tampering with players in the past 24 hours.” maura wrote to x. “We know who you are and we will do everything we can to hold you accountable. We're excited to have built a program that doesn't have to be that bad, and we're going to stick with it. Think twice before you mess with our players.”

News of the move comes after NFL Network reported on Wednesday that Belichick had “recently” discussed a reunion in Las Vegas with Raiders minority owner and former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Brady reportedly asked his former coach “what it would take” to get the Raiders' head coaching job.

Right after the Raiders and Belichick rumors came out. Reported by Diana Russini of The Athletic. The eight-time Super Bowl champion says he has “no plans” to return to the NFL.

She added that Belichick's “single focus is on coaching and recruiting” at UNC.
