Bill Clinton at New York City Marathon
Former President Bill Clinton was spotted at the finish line of the New York City Marathon on Sunday, sporting an unusual injury on his nose while embracing his daughter, Chelsea, who participated in the event.
At 79, Clinton has had some health challenges, having faced a hospital visit last year due to a fever and suspected dehydration. This time, however, he had a bandage on the tip of his nose as he celebrated with Chelsea, 45, who has taken part in marathons lately.
The specifics of Clinton’s injury remain unclear. His wife, Hillary, was also present, supporting Chelsea throughout the race.
Earlier this summer, Clinton was seen carrying a portable defibrillator bag after leaving the Hamptons, which raised some questions considering his history with heart issues.
Since former President Trump resumed office in January, Clinton has tended to stay away from the public eye, though he actively campaigned for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris against Republican candidates last year.
During the ongoing 2024 election cycle, Hillary Clinton has taken a more prominent role, which some believe may have overshadowed Kamala Harris in key battleground states.
Last year, an Arkansas native named Paul delivered a passionate speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. However, he rewrote it at the last moment after observing a surge of enthusiasm within the party when Joe Biden stepped back from the race.
Clinton has also made remarks about significant current events, including the delicate peace agreement between Israel and Hamas.
In recent political interactions, the former president congratulated Democratic Socialist Party candidate Zoran Mamdani for his win in the New York City primary back in June, joking that she is just a couple of months younger than Trump, and noting that she is three years younger than Biden. Clinton is recognized as the second youngest living former U.S. president after Barack Obama.
Despite these public appearances, Clinton’s health remains a topic of concern. In 2004, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery due to severe arterial blockages. The following year, he had surgery for a collapsed lung and, in 2010, he had open-heart surgery to fix a clogged artery, also receiving two stents at that time. He was briefly hospitalized during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding to the fears regarding his health.
A reporter for the Post noted seeing Bill Clinton exit in a black van, accompanied by several police officers from the New York City force.
As of now, representatives for Chelsea Clinton have not responded to requests for comments regarding the day’s events.
