Bill Clinton: Rep. Jackson Lee 'doing well' in pancreatic cancer fight

Former President Clinton said Sunday that Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), who is being treated for pancreatic cancer, is “doing well.”

“I just spoke with my friend, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who is battling pancreatic cancer,” Clinton wrote on social platform X.

“She is thriving and the warrior we know she is, facing this with incredible strength and determination. Please join me in cheering her on and keeping her in your thoughts. Stay strong, Sheila!” he continued.

The Texas Democrat announced in early June that she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and would be absent from Congress “at times” to undergo treatment, though she said she planned to continue attending key votes.

In a statement last month, Jackson Lee said he was optimistic about a recovery.

“My doctor has confirmed the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer,” she wrote. last month“I am currently undergoing treatment to combat this disease that affects tens of thousands of Americans each year.”

Jackson Lee won his congressional primary in March after losing the Houston mayoral race.

Jackson Lee was first elected to Congress in 1995, is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, and serves as the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee’s Crime Subcommittee.
