Bill Gates Aims to Donate Wealth, Blames Elon Musk for Hurting the Most Vulnerable Kids

Bill Gates has made controversial remarks suggesting that Elon Musk’s actions are detrimental to the world’s poorest children, particularly in relation to government spending cuts.

In a recent statement, Gates accused Musk of being responsible for “killing the world’s poorest children” due to the dismantling of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). This assertion follows reports that the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, announced a significant reduction in funding for various programs that aimed to support global welfare.

Rubio noted that 83% of the programs directly funded by the agency were recently canceled, deeming them counterproductive to US interests. He pointed out that these contracts, which totaled hundreds of billions of dollars, were vital for maintaining US influence globally.

While discussing these issues, Gates expressed concern for global health, referencing a “miraculous” response to the coronavirus pandemic over the past 25 years. He warned that future funding cuts could lead to increased mortality rates, citing a drop from approximately 10 million to under 5 million deaths, which may soon reverse if resources decline.

Looking ahead, Gates suggested that the government would eventually reconsider its commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. He expressed optimism about an “innovation pipeline” and his belief that fellow philanthropists would contribute more to these causes.

On Thursday, Gates shared plans to distribute $200 billion through his foundation by 2045. In response, Musk criticized Gates, calling him a “giant liar” and alleging that millions could die if spending cuts persist. Musk also highlighted that projections indicate a rise in child mortality rates due to these funding reductions.

Gates remarked that without reversing the spending cuts, deaths could exceed six million. He also noted a certain reluctance on Musk’s part to openly critique former President Trump, despite previously expressing admiration for Trump’s engagement with health initiatives during a meeting last year.
