Bill Gates Withdraws from India AI Impact Summit Amid Epstein Scrutiny
Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, has decided not to give the keynote speech at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, following ongoing scrutiny regarding his connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
Just hours before his scheduled address, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation released a statement confirming Gates’ absence from the event. “After careful consideration, Mr. Gates will not deliver the keynote address to maintain focus on the AI Summit’s key priorities,” the foundation stated.
Uncle Bora, the director of the foundation’s Africa and India office, conveyed the message on Gates’ behalf.
This announcement came in the wake of the Justice Department releasing over 3 million emails related to the Epstein investigation, which included personal emails from Epstein. Some of these emails suggested that Gates had maintained an affair and sought medication for sexually transmitted diseases, allegedly without informing his then-wife, Melinda French Gates.
Reflecting on his relationship with Epstein, Gates previously described it as “stupid” to have spent time with him.
Gates stated, “I met Jeffrey in 2011. Over the three years following, I had many dinners with him. The conversation often revolved around his connections to wealthy individuals who could support World Health. Looking back, that was a dead end.” He reiterated, “It was foolish to spend time with him. I regret getting to know him.”
Melinda, Gates’ ex-wife, seemed to suggest that concerns regarding their past relationship should be addressed by him, pointing out his responsibility in the matter. “Those questions are directed at those people and even my ex-husband. They need answers to those things, not me! I’m just relieved to be away from all the messy stuff,” she remarked.
