Bill Kristol Calls on 'All Good People' to Support Ilhan Omar

Bill Kristol Supports Rep. Ilhan Omar Amid Investigations

Bill Kristol, a prominent figure in the Never Trump movement, has urged Americans to rally in support of Somali immigrant Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) following a federal search of her home. Kristol remarked on X that “now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country” in light of the situation.

He suggested that the scrutiny Omar faces might stem from allegations of citizenship fraud linked to her father’s paperwork from 1995. Kristol expressed concern about the motivation behind the search, stating:

The Trump administration’s Department of Homeland Security is raiding Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home due to paperwork filled out by her father. They are desperate, but some loyalists within powerful agencies will follow orders. This desperation is troubling.

The specifics around the allegations are unclear, but there are suggestions that Omar may have misrepresented her birth date to secure citizenship through her father. Additionally, she has faced accusations related to welfare fraud within Somali-run businesses in Minnesota.

In response to the search, Omar tweeted that she is “okay” and emphasized:

This is an attempt to target political opponents and misuse federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with unfounded claims and smear tactics. This latest search is simply an escalation of his campaign of intimidation. I refuse to be silenced.

Kristol has previously stated the view that the U.S. should welcome migrants to take the place of Americans, invoking historical examples to support his argument.

The search of Omar’s residence is reportedly part of a criminal investigation being conducted by the Department of Justice.

The Washington Post noted that a senior Trump administration official confirmed that the raid on Omar’s home was related to an investigation into potential immigration fraud. The source requested anonymity to discuss the case and mentioned the investigation is being led by key officials from various departments.

Omar, who fled Somalia’s civil war with her family and lived in a Kenyan refugee camp before moving to the U.S. at 12, became a naturalized citizen in 2000 and was elected to Congress in 2018.

Recently, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin hinted at ongoing investigations, mentioning potential illegal activities related to family migration without offering definitive evidence.

He added, “If we can prove it that you shouldn’t have been here in the first place, we’ll deport you.”
