Bill Maher Critiques “The View” Co-Hosts
On Monday, HBO’s Bill Maher shared his thoughts on the co-hosts of “The View” during a conversation with actress Drew Barrymore on the “Club Random” podcast. Maher expressed some skepticism about whether the five women on the ABC show are truly representative of a woman’s perspective.
“I like everyone, but I’m not sure they provide the best representation for women right now,” he remarked to Barrymore.
This discussion arose when Barrymore invited Maher to be a guest on her show in New York. While he admitted to enjoying their friendship, he described the show as being “a lot.”
Maher mentioned his affection for Joy Behar, a co-host on “The View,” but he wasn’t shy about critiquing the show’s overall content. “I love Joy,” he said, but continued to voice his concerns about their talking points, emphasizing, “They often make statements that aren’t all that useful, especially when it comes to elections.”
In another example, Maher previously appeared on “The View” in May 2024, where he found himself at odds with Sunny Hostin over Israel’s actions in its ongoing conflict with Hamas. Hostin argued that Israel was inflicting harm on innocent Palestinian civilians. Maher acknowledged the tragic loss of lives but maintained that Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas and suggested that if Hamas cared about innocent lives, they would cease their attacks.
“That’s what happens in wars. There’s a path to stopping it, and it involves Hamas halting attacks on Israel,” he stated.
Maher has also made headlines recently by claiming that the treatment of black people in America parallels the oppression faced by women in Iran, sparking further debate on social media.
