Bill Maher Critiques “The View” on Podcast

On his podcast, “Club Random,” HBO host Bill Maher shared some candid thoughts about the co-hosts of “The View.” He was speaking with actress Drew Barrymore when he expressed doubts about whether the five women featured on the ABC show offer the best representation of women today.

“I like everyone on the show, but I’m not sure they’re the right advocates for women right now,” he remarked.

This discussion arose after Barrymore invited Maher to come to New York City and be a guest on her show. He acknowledged his friendship with some of the “View” hosts but admitted their style is a bit overwhelming.

“I care about some of the women from ‘The View,’ but there are plenty of shows out there,” he noted.

He has mingled with Barrymore’s fellow co-host Joy Behar, claiming, “I love Joy.” Yet, he emphasized that, although he appreciates the hosts, he often disagrees with their points during discussions.

“They say things that aren’t particularly helpful, especially when discussing elections,” Maher pointed out.

Back in May 2024, Maher stirred things up while appearing on “The View,” where he and Sunny Hostin clashed over Israel’s actions in its conflict with Hamas.

Hostin accused Israel of harming innocent Palestinian civilians, a claim that led Maher to step back from the debate. He expressed concern over the loss of innocent lives but maintained that Israel has the right to engage in conflict with Hamas. He added that if Hamas genuinely cared about civilians, they should cease their attacks.

“That’s the reality of war. There are ways to stop it and reduce hostilities toward Israel,” he said.

Recently, Maher chuckled about “The View,” referencing comments he made in July regarding the oppression of black people in America compared to women in Iran.

“That comment riled up the far left. But, you know, I stand by it,” he said. “I might have sounded foolish—like Whoopi Goldberg—but comparing the experiences of black people to those of Iranian women isn’t a stretch.”
