Bill Maher likened the ending of Netflix’s ‘Love Is Blind’ to the Democratic Party.

Bill Maher, the host of HBO’s “Real Time,” used the recent finale of “Love Is Blind” to discuss the potential pitfalls for the Democratic Party in upcoming elections. During his closing remarks, he highlighted a moment from the show featuring Ben Metzenga and Sarah Carlton, who walked away from their wedding due to not being on the same page.

Maher posed a thought-provoking question about how Democrats might misstep this time around, emphasizing issues of purity tests and the mindset of “if you’re not with me, I’m not with you.” He noted this as a narrow approach to politics.

In the “Love Is Blind” finale, Carlton confronted Metzenga about his views, particularly regarding Black Lives Matter. She recalled asking him about the topic, to which he responded somewhat vaguely, saying he hadn’t really thought much about it. The result? Carlton realized she couldn’t move forward with someone who didn’t share her values.

“And that’s when she thought, you know, I’d rather be alone than compromise,” Maher remarked after playing a clip of their exchange.

In a somewhat humorous tone, he pointed out other areas where Metzenga didn’t meet Carlton’s expectations, such as vaccines and his unclear stance on transgender issues. Maher underscored the disconnect, noting that when Carlton’s sister mentioned her sexuality, Metzenga claimed to have no issue with that community, but Maher felt his enthusiasm fell short.

He argued that the current climate among some liberals tends to encourage quick judgments rather than open dialogue, which doesn’t help their political standing. In closing, Maher pointed out that this tendency could create a disconnect with potential voters.
