Bill Maher Responds to Jerry O’Connell’s Comments on Kamala Harris Rally
Comedian Bill Maher recently weighed in after actor Jerry O’Connell expressed his thoughts regarding Maher’s involvement in a rally for former Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 campaign during a recent episode of “Club Random.”
O’Connell shared his experience of attending a rally for Harris in Atlanta, Georgia, mentioning that it was quite an energizing event, especially with a performance by rapper Megan Thee Stallion. However, Maher countered that such energy might only resonate with those already inclined to support Harris.
“I went to a Kamala Harris rally. My wife and I donated to the campaign,” O’Connell recounted. “And it was so epic, Bill, if you were there. I mean, it was really uplifting, exciting, you know?”
Maher replied, “It really emboldened people who were going to vote for her anyway. That’s who gave me energy.” O’Connell simply nodded in acknowledgment.
“There’s no right answer, Bill,” O’Connell stated. “There is no right answer.”
Maher continued, “I mean, yeah. We can make fun of each other all day long. Kamala Harris lost all seven battleground states. So she had zero in seven states where elections were held. You almost have to try something that bad. They lost a crazy contest against a crazy person.”
Not only did Harris lose all seven battleground states, but she also fell short in the national popular vote against President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that the Harris campaign and the Democratic Party spent nearly $1.5 billion in 2024, despite her limited time in office of just 107 days.
Former Democratic strategist Dan Turrentine, speaking on Newsmax’s “American Agenda,” noted that potential candidates for the 2028 Democratic primary are avoiding criticism of Harris, thinking her failures are quite apparent. “Democrats aren’t attacking her because they think she’s going to collapse a third time. Remember, she didn’t even make it to Iowa in 2019,” he pointed out. “The longer the campaign went on, the more people would think what she did was worse.”
As of now, Harris is reportedly leading the race for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, ahead of notable figures like California Governor Gavin Newsom, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
