Podcaster and television host Bill Maher recently criticized certain people on the “left” who tend to isolate themselves from conservative families during the holiday season.

“It's so funny that you say that, because like today, we don't even have friends on the other side, politically This is because we live in an era where we are not allowed to exceed the limit.” Guest: Jay Leno.
“And I forgot that back in the day, there was an example of a guy who crossed the line politically. 'Oh, the worst thing you can do is be friends with a Republican. Oh! Call 911!' ” Maher continued jokingly.
“This is what I hate so much about the left. And they're not going to bring me over to Trump's side, which I think they sometimes do, but they're just, you know, 'Vote for the wrong guy. Just the idea of “separating your family for Thanksgiving if you do.'' Fuck you, fuck you. and sammy [Davis Jr.] – When he embraced Nixon, he was pretty much ostracized by the left. That was an early harbinger of that,” he added, referring to the famous moment when singer and actor Sammy Davis Jr. hugged former Republican President Richard Nixon.
But this is not the first time Mr Maher has used political differences to push back against leftists who promote isolation, having previously criticized child psychiatry researcher Dr Amanda Calhoun. MSNBC's Joy Reid said her push to distance herself from her family was politically motivated.
“There's a social pressure that if someone is your family, they have a right to your time, too,” Calhoun said. “And I think the answer is absolutely no.”
“So if you have family members or close friends who are in a situation where you know they voted against you, against your livelihood, it's perfectly fine to not be around those people. No. And tell them why,” Calhoun continued.
“'I have a problem with the way you vote because it goes against my livelihood, so I'm not going to be around you this holiday, you have to make some space for me.' she added.
Maher sarcastically clapped back at Calhoun and Reed, claiming: [That’s] It's like not allowing certain people to sit with you on the bus. ”
“Think about how mental health professionals are advising people to isolate during the holidays, and remember that drinking too much can lead to weight gain,” Maher continued.
“You know who I really wouldn't want to have Thanksgiving dinner with? These ivory tower academics are overly educated, which means they're very stupid,” he quipped. said.
“But if we want to heal this country, this is what we have to do, so we need to address ourselves and ask ourselves why someone feels that way, without preconceived notions, if they are Because you have to force yourself to make the choices you make.” [as] It’s a monster,” Maher added.
Back in May, Maher once again faced criticism from Democrats in a CNN interview when he was asked why his anti-leftist rhetoric had completely “turned around.”
“It's not going around. 'Yes, people have said to me, 'You're making fun of the left more than you used to,' but I feel guilty because the left has changed.” Maher told CNN's Fareed Zakaria in a sit-down interview.
