The son of a former long-serving Republican congressman is now facing serious charges related to child pornography and inappropriate conduct with a minor. Patrick Rainey Young, 38, the son of the late Congressman Bill Young, has been charged in Pinellas County, Florida.
The charges include solicitation of a child for unlawful sexual acts, harmful communication with a minor via electronic means, and two counts of possessing child pornography. Authorities received reports about inappropriate behavior between Young and a 15-year-old girl on January 8, 2026. The man was identified as Young after investigations were initiated.
According to the police, Young first encountered the girl while he was operating the scoreboard at his son’s baseball game at Seminole High School. It’s alleged that during their interactions, he made sexual comments towards her, provided her with alcohol and nicotine, and they continued to communicate through Instagram messages, where discussions about sexual favors and nude pictures in exchange for money took place.
Detectives later found out that Young purportedly gave the girl $300 after receiving nude photos and also offered her food under similar circumstances. Following these revelations, he was arrested and taken to the Pinellas County Jail, where his bail is set at $10,000 for the child pornography charges, with $5,000 for each count.
Bill Young, Patrick’s father, passed away in 2013 at the age of 82, having served for over 42 years in Congress, making him the longest-serving Republican in the House until that record was surpassed by another representative.
