Adelson Supports Stefanik’s Gubernatorial Run
At a recent gala organized by the Zionist American Justice Organization, billionaire Miriam Adelson expressed her backing for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s gubernatorial campaign in New York. While not an official endorsement, her remarks highlighted Stefanik’s commitment to confronting anti-Semitism in both government and education.
Stefanik, who serves as the chair of the House Republican Conference, was honored with the Mortimer Zuckerman Maccabee Warrior Award for her dedication to fighting anti-Semitism.
During the event, Adelson lauded Stefanik for her direct engagement with university leadership on issues of anti-Semitism, recalling the advocacy of her late husband, Sheldon Adelson. “When I heard you speaking to the university’s head, I thought, ‘She has the courage to tell the truth,'” Adelson remarked. She then quoted her husband, encouraging standing firm for one’s beliefs even in solitude: “You have shown immense courage.”
Continuing to praise her, Adelson called Stefanik a “great leader” for defending “Jews, Israel, and the free world.” She conveyed her admiration, saying, “I’m here to send you a hug for all you’ve done,” adding that she looks forward to celebrating in the New York Governor’s office after the election next year.
With a significant fortune exceeding $30 billion, Adelson is a prominent figure in Republican circles and has consistently supported pro-Trump initiatives in various electoral cycles.
At the event, which drew various leaders from the pro-Israel community, Stefanik expressed gratitude for Adelson’s friendship and support, emphasizing her aim to “save New York” and unseat Governor Kathy Hochul.
Stefanik is gearing up to formally launch her Republican campaign against Hochul for the 2026 elections, having hinted at this move for several months. She represents a conservative district in upstate New York and has previously been one of Donald Trump’s key allies.
In her campaign kickoff, she positioned herself as a candidate focused on making New York “affordable and safe,” criticizing the state’s leaders for their policies. “We’ve seen decades of one-party rule, and I believe Kathy Hochul is the worst governor in America,” Stefanik stated, adding her concerns about high taxes and rising crime rates.
She also remarked on how the recent election of Zoran Mamdani, a Democratic socialist and pro-Hamas figure, was a reflection of Hochul’s failures, emphasizing her lack of leadership.
In the latest back-and-forth, Governor Hochul has countered Stefanik’s claims by accusing her of prioritizing Trump’s agenda over that of New Yorkers, highlighting her supposed role in exacerbating costs for families in the state.
In this charged political landscape, the rhetoric is heating up as both candidates prepare for what promises to be a pivotal election.
