Billionaire Donors Vow to Bankroll Kamala Harris’s Presidential Run

The Democratic Party’s go-to left-leaning billionaire donors are pledging to fund Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential bid after President Joe Biden announced over the weekend that he was dropping out of the race.

Like Biden, Harris has been endorsed by several billionaire donors and is sure to win the backing of some of the Democrats’ wealthiest backers, including George Soros and his son, Alex Soros. The New York Times detail:

She was hopeful she’d be able to collect later in the week. “My phone is just blowing up,” she said. “Lots of people are asking where they can donate, what they can do to support the campaign, writing more. People who were enthusiastic but apprehensive are now excited and energized.” [Emphasis added]

Support from the Democratic Party’s billionaire base grew sharply Sunday afternoon.These are the types of people who can write seven- and eight-figure checks to outside pro-Harris groups. Amid the turmoil, Democratic megadonor Reid Hoffman, who has been one of Biden’s strongest supporters in recent weeks, has endorsed Harris for president. Another of Biden’s billionaire backers, Alex Soros, scion of a well-known Democratic philanthropic family, also said he would support her. [Emphasis added]

Support also poured in from Democratic groups that channel donations from big donors, including Emily’s List, a Democratic group of big donors that supports women who support abortion rights and has endorsed Harris since she was vice president. Way to Win, a major Democratic donor group with many members who back Harris, also said it would support her. [Emphasis added]

As Times As mentioned above, Reid Hoffman is one of Harris’ biggest billionaire backers. In May 2023, Hoffman admitted to visiting convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s private island. The island is named “Little St. James” but is commonly referred to as “Pedophile Island.”

During the 2020 election campaign, Hoffman Spent $7 millionHoffman worked solely on supporting pro-Biden political action committees and ads against then-President Donald Trump. Hoffman and his wife, Michelle Yee, donated nearly $500,000 to Biden’s campaign and two joint fundraising committees supporting Biden.

Similarly, NBC News Reports Billionaire donors are loosening their purse strings for Harris, whom they see as a trusted liaison inside the White House.

But that’s not all. More funds are expected to come in, with generous donors already pledging money. Too much. [Emphasis added]

“It would open the floodgates,” said Chris Korge, financial chairman of the Biden Victory Fund. “We had a lot of people that were holding off on donating, but now they’re going to donate because that whole situation was kind of paralyzing our fundraising efforts,” he told NBC News. [Emphasis added]

Korge said he’s been fielding calls throughout the day from major donors who are moved by Biden’s decision. Some people were even seen crying. [Emphasis added]

Harris has long been a favorite of wealthy voters on the nation’s coasts.

Harris, who unsuccessfully ran for president in the 2019 Democratic primary, was funded almost exclusively by California residents, particularly those working for big law firms, multinational corporations and Silicon Valley tech conglomerates.

For example, billionaire Gordon Getty of the Getty Oil family held a fundraiser for Harris at his San Francisco mansion along with Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.). Harris also Raked together Huge amounts of cash were raised from big pharmaceutical companies and Wall Street heavyweights.
