Bills added to NFL teams recognizing Charlie Kirk during Thursday Night Football

The Buffalo Bills paid tribute to Charlie Kirk on Thursday night prior to their game against the Miami Dolphins.

A video honoring Kirk was shown on the Jumbotron at Highmark Stadium.

The Bills joined other teams like the Arizona Cardinals in this gesture, making them the tenth NFL team to do so, alongside teams like the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys.

The NFL had asked the Packers to observe a moment of silence before their game with Washington the previous Thursday, but later decided that each team could choose how to honor Kirk during their Sunday and Monday matches.

At least one team, the Carolina Panthers, took decisive action in response to inappropriate comments made after Kirk’s death. They released Charlie Lock, a member of their communications team, for a social media post that questioned the public’s grief over Kirk’s murder.

In a statement, the Panthers emphasized that the views expressed by employees do not reflect the organization’s stance, stating, “We do not tolerate any kind of violence. We take this issue very seriously.”

Kirk was tragically killed on September 10th during an event at Utah Valley University, and Tyler Robinson has been charged with his murder.

On October 14, 2025, the US Senate passed a resolution marking Kirk’s birthday as a national day of remembrance. Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla) announced this designation, highlighting Kirk as a tremendous leader, devoted family man, and inspiration to many.

Scott remarked, “Charlie loved our country and its founding principles and believed firmly in his faith, family, and ideas.”
