Buffalo Bills’ Brandin Cooks Discusses Controversial Interception

Brandin Cooks of the Buffalo Bills said he believes he made a questionable interception during the overtime victory against the Denver Broncos.

The 32-year-old wide receiver seemed to complete the catch but lost possession to Denver’s Jaquan McMillan. The referees ruled it an interception, resulting in a shift in possession from the Bills to the Broncos.

“Ultimately, it was a catch. It’s not just about how it looked; it’s also about how it felt,” Cooks mentioned in a recent interview on NFL Network.

He expressed disappointment regarding the review process surrounding the play. If it had been ruled a catch, the Bills would have been in field goal range, potentially changing the outcome of the game. Instead, the Broncos regained possession and had their chance to win.

“You have that feeling of hope when there’s a timeout,” Cooks reflected. “But then you realize they need time to review it, and it seems like they didn’t take enough time.” He felt confident about the catch itself, saying, “Whether it hit my knee, shoulder, or back, my hands never left that ball.”

“And it was an overtime situation. We were on offense, and I’m pretty sure I caught it. But, I guess my thoughts on it don’t really matter right now,” he added.

After the playoff loss, the Bills made the decision to fire head coach Sean McDermott, as stated by owner Terry Pegula. This followed their tough 33-30 defeat to the Broncos.

Cooks joined the Bills in late November, aiming to bolster their receiving lineup. In the regular season, he managed to catch five passes for 114 yards over five games, while in two playoff matches, he recorded five receptions for 78 yards.
