of buffalo bills We've had some pretty bad heartbreaks in the playoffs, but this one is going to really hurt.
With 8 minutes and 23 seconds left in the fourth quarter of the divisional round, kansas city chiefsBuffalo got the ball 27-24 and Josh Allen finally had a chance to get that elusive victory over Patrick Mahomes.
Perhaps the start of this drive was a sign of the heartbreak to come when Allen dropped down and hit Stefon Diggs deep, but the All-Pro wideout saw the ball go through his hands. If he had brought the ball in, Buffalo would have reached the red zone with eight minutes left and would have been in prime position to at least tie the game, but even if he hadn't, there's still plenty of time to get the ball back. .
Despite the drop, the Bills continued a long drive that used up most of the remaining time, eventually reaching the Chiefs' 25-yard line.
But on third-and-9 with 1:55 left, Allen was pressured to throw the ball away, leaving the Bills with a chance to tie the game at the feet of Tyler Bass.
Unfortunately, Bass' kick went wide right and the Chiefs ran out the remaining time and won 27-24.
With the win, Mahomes advances to his sixth AFC Championship in his six years as the NFL's starting QB. He finished the game 17-of-23 passing for 215 yards, two scores, and six rushes for 19 yards.
As you can imagine, Bills fans were distraught over the way the game ended, with some fans unable to contain their emotions.
After giving a postgame interview with CBS's Tracy Wolfson, Mahomes was pelted with snowballs by several Bills fans as he tried to leave the field. Snowballs were being thrown during the game, especially in the end zones, so while it was disappointing, it wasn't surprising to see it after the game.

It's a shame to lose, but there's no room for defeat at any level of sport.
