Anyone who produced the phrase “money makes a man” wasn't thinking of Bills quarterback Josh Allen when he said it.
On Wednesday, Allen spoke to a reporter for the first time since signing a six-year blockbuster. Star players, especially quarterbacks, are expected to do such interviews after signing a lucrative contract extension. But what was unexpected came when the reporter asked Allen if his massive New Deal would mean a bigger engagement ring for Allen's wife, Haley Steinfeld.
“Biger ring, did you say?” Allen chuckled in surprise. “No, I think she likes what she has.”
The moment was fantastic, but just as it stood out as Allen's reaction when asked why he didn't ask for another $5 million to break Duck Prescott's $60 million annual record.
“It's weird to say this, but I can't do anything else that another $5 million in my life is trying to do, right now. That's not so crazy for me,” Allen said. “If it affects the cap, find a way to avoid it.”
“I'm so grateful to find someone I want to share with you what's going on in my life,” Allen said of Steinfeld. “It seems like everything else will be a little easier when you understand the work.”
Allen is away from the MVP season in 2024, with only a whopping 41 touchdowns (passes, rushes and receptions) and six intercepts. Buffalo's Super Bowl Quest ended in a highly controversial way in the AFC Championship game against Kansas City. However, it appears that Buffalo is poised to run another Super Bowl this year, as the bill adds Star Pass Rush Joey Bosa and other important defensive pieces.
