Bills Sign Former Chiefs Star Mecole Hardman

The Buffalo Bills have added a familiar face to their roster, bringing in Mecole Hardman, who previously made headlines with the Kansas City Chiefs. This move comes after the team struggled to find receiving help throughout the season and missed out on trades as the deadline approached.

Unfortunately, right after this acquisition, the Bills played their worst offensive game of the season, suffering a 30-13 defeat against the Miami Dolphins, who currently hold a 3-7 record. Amazingly, Buffalo didn’t put any points on the board until the fourth quarter.

Hardman will initially join the Bills’ practice squad, as reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. There’s a possibility he could be promoted to the 53-man roster depending on how things unfold.

Earlier this season, Hardman was part of the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. He had been looking for a new opportunity following his release in September.

It’s worth noting that Hardman was a second-round draft pick back in 2019 and fits into the Bills’ strategy to bolster their lineup before this year’s trade deadline. Reports indicated that the Bills aimed to trade for Jaylen Waddle, a standout on the Dolphins’ roster.

At just 27 years old, Hardman is known for scoring the decisive touchdown in overtime against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl III, adding to his impressive resume as a three-time Super Bowl champion. He started the 2023-2024 season with the Jets, but things took a turn for the worse, leading to a trade back to the Chiefs.

Although he served mostly as a gadget player with the Chiefs, expectations were high for Hardman, especially after Tyreek Hill’s departure to the Dolphins. Still, he never managed to surpass 700 receiving yards in any of his first six seasons.

As the Bills navigate a challenging season, this new addition will hopefully provide the spark they desperately need.
