Billy Bob Thornton praises Jerry Jones for his cameo in 'Landman'

Jerry Jones Takes a Turn in Acting on ‘Landman’

Jerry Jones, well-known for both his savvy business tactics and his sometimes controversial role as the owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, recently ventured into the acting world. At 83, he made a guest appearance on the acclaimed TV show “Landman,” where his performance was well-received by the show’s lead star, Billy Bob Thornton.

Jones’ episodes became available for streaming back in January. He appeared as himself, sharing heartfelt dialogue that touched on his family.

“Now I’m not saying I did anything right, but I decided a long time ago that I wanted to work with kids,” Jones remarked during his cameo. “They’re involved in everything. They’re involved in my leases, oil and gas, real estate. And when I got the Cowboys, I got it so we could all work together. I thought I was doing it for them, but it was me who benefited the most from it.”

Thornton discussed Jones’ acting on the recent “Manning Cast,” highlighting how compelling Jones was in sharing his personal narrative. He noted, “I wasn’t surprised because he was telling his own story. If the script had required him to memorize complex lines, it might have been different. But he was opening up about his life. You could see he was genuinely affected; very impressive stuff.”

Meanwhile, on the football field, Jones’ Cowboys faced a setback, losing to the Denver Broncos, 44-24. Looking ahead, the team will take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9.
