Billy Bob Thornton Sets the Record Straight on ‘The Landman’ Rumors
Billy Bob Thornton is eager to clarify the chatter surrounding his role in the series ‘The Landman.’ Recently, he dismissed speculation about leaving the Paramount+ show as untrue.
Rumors intensified after the finale of season 2 depicted Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, being dismissed from his position at M-Tex by Cami Miller, played by Demi Moore, leading to questions about his future in the series.
Thornton was quick to denounce these claims as entirely baseless, even labeling them as “AI-generated nonsense.” He mentioned, “There are reports from AI that Demi and I are now a couple, and there are also reports that I’m leaving the show. They have nothing to do with reality.”
Despite being fired from his character’s executive role, Thornton confirmed he will continue on the series, which is ramping up for season 3 production set to begin this spring. “I’ll go there,” he affirmed, making his commitment clear.
While he didn’t specify how long he expects to be part of the project, Thornton reassured fans that he enjoys being on the show. “It was great working with Sam [Elliott], and I love doing the show,” he said, mentioning he hopes to be involved for as long as the series lasts. “If it’s for five years, that would be great. If it’s for a little longer, I’ll be here.”
His character, at a turning point after being fired, is expected to navigate new challenges in season 3, mainly centered around the search for oil and rebuilding his reputation in the industry. Details on the plot are still under wraps.
Actor Ali Larter, who portrays Norris’ ex-wife, has also engaged with fans, expressing her excitement about the upcoming season and gratitude for the show’s success. “I’m so excited to announce that I’m coming back for Season 3! Thank you to the fans who have made Landman such a huge success,” she shared on social media.
Set against the backdrop of West Texas’ oil boom, ‘The Landman’ is rooted in the podcast ‘Boomtown’ and revolves around the high-stakes world of the oil industry, showcasing the determination and challenges faced by Thornton’s character, Norris. The cast includes other notable names like Jon Hamm and Michelle Randolph.
