Billy Horschel extends LIV Golf “Olive Branch,” asks for The PLAYERS admittance

Billy Horschel is ready to extend an olive branch to LIV Golf so that The Players Championship once again has the best field in golf.

The 144-person field is strong, but it’s even better if you invite top LIV golfers like world No. 3 Jon Rahm, current PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka, 2022 Players Champion Cameron Smith, and Dustin. Not powerful. Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Joaquin Niemann.

Without these heavyweights, the field is definitely weaker. The Players are unofficially known as their fifth major championship, but can they keep saying that without the field being at its best?

Horschel spoke to Sky Sports about the matter. I acknowledged how unfortunate that was. Like they aren’t at TPC Sawgrass.

“If we consider ourselves the fifth major, and I believe we are, then I think we should extend a little bit of an olive branch,” Horschel said. “we [Jay Monahan and Horschel] We had a great conversation about it and it was understandable on both his side and the PGA Tour side, but personally I think it’s hard to say we don’t have the best players in the world here. ”

Horschel was not a fan of how the tour members handled the whole ordeal. He has also been very vocal about his dislike of LIV from the beginning.

In August 2022, Horschel said he feels LIV golfers have been brainwashed and doesn’t want to see them return to the PGA Tour.

Therefore, it is interesting to hear him requesting participation in this prestigious event.

“Get rid of the world rankings, get rid of everything. Everyone knows who the best players in the world are, and hopefully in a year’s time all the best players will be back here playing again. I think it can be done,” he said.

Players like him and Rory McIlroy have changed the way we look at LIV golf.

“I think in order for golf to get back to where it should be and for golf to improve, we need to put our personal feelings aside and do the right thing,” Horschel said. “We hope that this agreement with PIF will help us achieve that.” [Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund] And I believe there is a path for the best player in the world to play again and that is in a fifth major. ”

Mr Monaghan called on the media on Tuesday to provide an update on the progress of negotiations with PIF, but did not provide specific information.
