Bitmine Surpasses $1 Billion in Ethereum Holdings
Bitmine has now achieved a total of over $1 billion in Ethereum (ETH) holdings, a significant increase from its initial $250 million just a week prior, marking a rise of more than 300%. As of July 17, 2025, the company reported it holds approximately 300,657 ETH, which is valued at around $3,461.89 each, according to Bloomberg.
In a statement, Thomas “Tom” Lee, chairman of Bitmine’s board, expressed excitement about this milestone, noting, “In Bitmine, we’ve surpassed $1 billion in Ethereum holdings only 7 days after the first closure of $250 million in private placements.” He emphasized that this reflects the company’s strategic financial approach.
Bitmine aims to enhance its performance metrics by increasing ETH per share. This strategy involves reinvesting company cash flows, utilizing market volatility to lower capital costs, and integrating staking yields. The fluctuations in ETH’s value, of course, play a role in this mix.
Jonathan Bates, Bitmine’s CEO, added, “Achieving $1 billion in ETH is a clear signal of our belief in the long-term value of Ethereum. We are committed to its growth and to advancing our financial strategies.” This signals their ongoing confidence in the digital currency landscape.

A Cautionary Note
This announcement includes forward-looking statements, which reflect potential risks and uncertainties surrounding the company’s future performance. While these statements offer insights into intended goals and progress, actual results may differ significantly. Investors are encouraged to consider various factors including market competition and technology advancements.
Lastly, it’s important to note that 60,000 ETH is equivalent to a conceptual value of around $200 million, and this amount represents a strategic holding in the form of options.
