Black farmers group threatens boycott against Tractor Supply after cancellation of DEI and climate change programs

Organizations representing black farmers Resignation The CEO of Tractor Supply Co. was fired after the company stopped supporting DEI programs and threatened to boycott if demands were not met.

The company was widely criticized on social media after it was found to have implemented programs aligned with the woke movement agenda, and on Thursday it bowed to public pressure and announced it was dropping its carbon emissions targets and diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

Tractor Supply also announced that it would stop sending data to the Human Rights Campaign, which organizes LGBTQ+ political activities.

“I see this as turning back the clock on race relations.”

The president of the National Black Farmers Association said in an interview Tuesday that he was “appalled” by Tractor Supply Co.’s decision.

“I see this as turning back the clock on race relations because this country is so divided on race, especially in rural America,” John Boyd Jr. said, according to the Associated Press.

Boyd said he tried to contact the company’s CEO, Hal Lawton, before taking the drastic step of asking for his resignation.

“He’s gone too far and we need to let him know we’re not going to sit back and let this mess go any longer,” Boyd added.

He further said the NBFA would consider a boycott if Tractor Supply does not meet its demands.

“We’re tired of being treated badly by the government and by Fortune 500 companies,” he continued. “Black farmers are going to fight back, and that’s what we’re doing.”

According to an Associated Press report, some customers have already decided to switch to other companies after hearing the announcement.

“I find it hard to believe that a company would basically cave to a hate campaign,” said Beth Hyman, co-founder of Squirrelwood Equine Sanctuary, who is gay. “They’re just now facing another boycott. We’re not calling for it, but apparently people are.”

Boyd posted a call on social media, Tagged Celebrities including Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, rapper 50 Cent and Joe Biden have sought to gain attention with their boycott threats.
