Pastor Comments on Charlie Kirk’s Death
Pastor Howard John Wesley addressed the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk in a rather harsh manner, calling attention to differing opinions about him. He referred to Kirk as a “weapon of the enemy,” despite acknowledging that he did not deserve such a fate.
“It’s disheartening to see the U.S. flag flying at half-mast for someone who, in my opinion, showed a blatant disrespect for this country,” Wesley remarked. He noted a sense of anger from some people towards Kirk, while expressing that similar outrage wasn’t directed at others affected by violence, like Melissa Hortman and her husband.
“The way you die doesn’t negate the way you lived,” he asserted, suggesting that those who contribute to societal harm cannot be heroes, even in death.
Jason Whitlock, a host at BlazeTV, reflected on this sentiment, drawing comparisons between Kirk and George Floyd. “I wonder how Wesley explains George Floyd and his actions. Kirk, at least, attended church; he was politically active,” Whitlock said.
He further added, “It’s tricky to label Charlie Kirk as a racist. He was an evangelical and dedicated family man. Floyd, on the other hand, had drug-related issues that impacted his life significantly.” Whitlock emphasized that Kirk’s death resulted from an assassination, not from altercations or criminal activities.
