Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni come to an agreement in 'It Ends With Us' legal dispute

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have decided to settle their legal dispute just weeks before their trial was set to begin, as confirmed by sources. They released a joint statement expressing pride in their film “It Ends with Us,” which aims to raise awareness for domestic violence survivors. “The process has been tough, and we believe Mr. Lively’s concerns should be acknowledged,” they mentioned, hoping that the settlement would allow everyone to move forward peacefully, particularly in the online space.

After a lengthy legal battle, a federal judge issued a ruling that focused primarily on Lively’s accusations of retaliation. Most of her claims, including those of sexual harassment and defamation, were dismissed, leaving just the issues of retaliation and breach of contract. The legal tensions arose from their work on the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s book. Lively had initially filed her lawsuit in December 2024, citing sexual harassment on set.

The lawsuit included serious allegations against Baldoni and another party, claiming retaliation and emotional distress. Baldoni countered the accusations, suggesting that Lively’s claims were a strategy to protect his reputation after their film’s press tour didn’t go well. His lawsuit was also subsequently dismissed.

As they approached court proceedings, Lively claimed to have incurred significant financial losses from negative media portrayals, with her legal team estimating damages at around $300 million. Baldoni, in return, is seeking a verdict that absolves him of any liability and aims to dismiss the lawsuit entirely.
