Blake Lively’s Lawsuit Against Justin Baldoni Set for Trial
The trial everyone has been talking about is finally coming up: Blake Lively is suing Justin Baldoni. New court documents suggest that various celebrities, including Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, are expected to testify.
The civil lawsuit, brought by Lively, 38, against Baldoni, 42, stems from tensions related to the filming of “It Ends with Us.” The trial is set to start on May 18 in a federal court located in lower Manhattan.
In a witness list submitted over the weekend, Lively named herself, Reynolds, and her co-stars from “Destined,” Jenny Slate and Isabella Ferrer, among others.
She also plans to include her sister, Robin Lively, and both of Baldoni’s lawyers, Stephanie Jones and Melissa Nathan, in her list of witnesses.
Baldoni, who directed and starred in the 2024 drama film, will offer his perspective during the trial, as indicated by his own witness list.
Interestingly, a proposed jury questionnaire hints that numerous well-known figures could be involved in the case, including pop star Taylor Swift. However, Swift isn’t listed as a witness.
While filming and photography won’t be allowed in the courtroom, there’s bound to be considerable excitement outside, with fans eager to catch a glimpse of the celebrities or get a seat to hear the dramatic testimonies.
Last December, Lively made serious claims against Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment and an aggressive smear campaign directed at her.
Baldoni, on the other hand, countered with a hefty $400 million lawsuit that was eventually thrown out by the court.
Earlier this month, the judge who dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit also dropped 13 of the 16 claims against Lively, but some charges remain, including retaliation and breach of contract, allowing for continued proceedings.
The two actors had previously worked together but turned down last-minute settlement offers to resolve their dispute before the trial.
Baldoni has categorically denied Lively’s allegations.
