Blake Lively faced backlash from fans after an incestuous scene in her latest movie, “Another Simple Favor.”
In this sequel, which debuted on May 1, Lively reprises her role as Emily Nelson, a former PR director for a fashion company, and engages in intimate scenes with one of the triplet siblings, Charity, also played by her.
At one point, she initiates a sexual act with Charity and another sister, after which she remarks, “make it feel good.” It’s a pretty shocking moment.
Fans voiced their dismay over this plot twist on social media.
One user stated, “I was taken aback. Blake Lively does an incest scene with her sister, and it feels like Hollywood is pushing these themes lately,” referring to similar content in other series.
Another commented on the oddity of the film, calling it “the strangest incest-filled movie I’ve ever seen, you’ll love it, Blake Lively fans.”
Responses ranged from critiques of the film’s direction to outright disapproval. “I thought it was decent until they introduced the gay and incest themes. What is happening in Hollywood?” remarked another viewer.
Many expressed their discomfort, labeling the film a “hot mess,” with one calling it cringe-inducing and challenging to watch.
Blake has yet to provide a statement through her representatives when asked for comment.
Alongside Lively, the sequel features Anna Kendrick. At the SXSW film festival in March, Lively discussed her unease with the incest scene, describing it as unsettling to witness with an audience.
“It was a bit of a shocker, and very awkward to sit through that with you all,” she admitted, highlighting her mixed feelings about the character’s development.
Apart from her film career, Lively is entangled in a legal dispute with co-star Justin Baldoni regarding allegations of sexual harassment on set. This matter has garnered significant attention as they prepare for a court appearance in March 2026.
In a notable countersuit, Baldoni has challenged Lively’s accusations, leading to a heated legal battle that has added more complexity to their professional dynamics.
