Blanche states there won't be a perp walk for Comey.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that former FBI Director James Comey would not be making a public spectacle during his arrest on Wednesday morning, often referred to as a “perp walk.”

In an interview, Blanche dismissed media reports about the situation, asserting that this narrative was fabricated by certain news organizations. He noted, “This is a story created by MSNBC and other highly polarized news networks, creating something that doesn’t exist. We make arrests regularly across the nation.”

Comey has been asked to appear, and understanding the situation surrounding his case, Blanche emphasized that much of the commentary from certain media sources is just “noise.” He explained that while stories about former agents and potential perp walks circulate, they don’t reflect reality.

Reports earlier hinted at the firing of some FBI agents who allegedly refused to participate in the “Comey perp walk.” FBI Director Kash Patel, who joined the conversation on Tuesday, echoed Blanche’s sentiments, mentioning the department’s efforts to rectify past leadership issues. He urged the public to focus on the substantive elements of Comey’s case that would unfold in court.

“Mainstream media often seeks to dramatize events, but we are here to achieve real results in the judicial process,” Patel remarked, hinting at the upcoming revelations pertinent to the case.

Comey is due to face charges in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, related to allegations that he provided false statements to Congress, a move seen as obstructing investigations. He maintains his innocence and is expected to enter a not guilty plea.

The accusations trace back to Comey’s 2020 congressional testimony regarding the use of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email and the investigations into the 2016 election and its supposed connections to Russia. During his testimony, he denied approving any leaks related to Clinton’s case, yet the indictment suggests he was aware that leaks had occurred.

The case has drawn considerable attention, especially considering Comey’s role as a vocal critic of Trump, who often expresses a desire to see Comey prosecuted.
