‘Blue Bloods’ star Donnie Wahlberg calls Tom Selleck ‘Dad’: ‘We’ve just become a real family’

For Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg, he and Tom Selleck are like father and son.

The long-running crime drama is set to air the first 10 episodes of its 14th and final season on February 16th. The final eight episodes are scheduled to air in the fall.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Wahlberg admitted that over the past 14 years of working with Selleck, their relationship has grown beyond just co-stars.

“Tom Selleck, I call him dad,” he said. “At first, the first season or two, I was kind of confused and I was like, ‘Hey, Donnie.’ Now I feel like we’re so much closer.”

Wahlberg explained that Selleck joins the father-son dynamic and calls him “son.”

“He was literally like, ‘Hey, hey, how are you today?'” Wahlberg said. “It’s like we’ve become a real family and it’s going to be a lot of not being together.” [them] We’re no longer connected, but I’m sure we’ll stay connected even after the cameras aren’t rolling. ”

“There’s something about coming to work in New York every day with this cast and crew, this crew, many of whom have been here for 14 years,” Wahlberg said. “It’s really great to work with them. The cast is phenomenal. They’re like a real family.”

Wahlberg mentioned the dinner scene in Blue Bloods and how much viewers enjoyed it.

“The dinner scene, which is very meaningful to the audience, is actually very meaningful to the cast,” he said. “We sit down with the cast every week and talk about how families get together once a week to catch up, talk about things, what’s going on in their lives, what’s going on in the world, and the cast of the show. It’s like we’re going to talk about it and we’re going to do the same thing.”

For Wahlberg, it is unthinkable that he will no longer film with the cast and crew of Blue Bloods.
