The cast and crew of Blue Bloods, including Donnie Wahlberg, worked hard to keep the show on the air after 14 seasons. The drama series aired its final episode on Friday night.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, the “Very Scary People” host talked about the emotional final dinner scene and how eerie the silence on set was after the final “cut” was shouted. .

“Sometimes I remember that when we finished filming that scene, the whole crew came into the Reagan house, and we're all standing around it. There were hundreds of people standing there. And it was.'' Hey, quiet.

“I think there was a long silence after they said 'cut,' and we all said, Mr. A, somebody said, 'Hey, this is just a joke, we're going to keep filming more episodes.' I think I was standing or sitting there hoping he would say that to me. Or everyone was hesitant because they knew that if someone started talking, everyone would get emotional,” Wahlberg said.

“I think one of the things that we haven't really talked about is that we've been working with the New York City crew for so long, personally — and I'm sure other cast members, too. –I think I felt bad. I was sad.''Well, we tried to keep the show going, but we couldn't. Please continue the show. ”

Wahlberg told Fox News Digital that he is grateful to the crew he has worked with for over a decade, but he can't help but feel like the cast is “a little bit of a letdown.”

“It was sad. Like, we tried to keep the show going. We tried to help keep the show going, but we couldn't. We couldn't do it. We… We did everything in our power to keep the show going.”

“That was tough. It was tough to process. And I know the staff doesn't feel that way. But in a way, we continue to believe that the show will go on. When that finale ended, it was over.''It was definitely like reality hit all of us, and we were like, “Oh, I wish it could have lasted a few more years.'' ”

“We approached that staff, and they have families, they have mortgages, they have a lot of responsibilities. We know that hundreds of New Yorkers who work on this show have these careers. It was a really cool feeling to go to work every day knowing, 'Just knowing it was going to end, I think it was very scary for them,' Wahlberg said.

Wahlberg looked back on his time on “Blue Bloods.”

“We worked hard to represent the people of New York and the NYPD, we worked hard to keep the show going, we worked hard to keep it attractive for 14 years, and it was very hard to say goodbye. From the outside, sometimes it looks like, “Oh, these actors are all crying that the show is over.'' But we certainly became a family, and the crew members became a family, and just saying goodbye to them was emotional,” Wahlberg said.
