A KSTP/Survey USA poll on Tuesday revealed Minnesota as a strong state for former President Donald Trump.
President Trump has for months announced his intention to aggressively expand the electoral map ahead of the presidential election, targeting traditionally blue states such as New York, New Jersey, Virginia, New Mexico and Minnesota.
On Saturday, the United States witnessed the effort as President Trump’s rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, drew about 100,000 supporters.

On Friday, Mr. Trump is scheduled to headline the Minnesota Republican Lincoln-Reagan Dinner, an event that comes as Mr. Trump appears to be closing in on President Joe Biden in polls in the blue state. .
The KSTP/Survey USA poll showed a 2-point difference between Trump and Biden (Biden 44%, Trump 42%). The remaining 9% remains undecided. Those numbers have remained the same since April, but Biden led Trump by 4 points in February. However, even Biden’s lead is within the poll’s ±4.3% margin of error, making them essentially even.
The poll also showed that they were tied among independents, with each receiving 36% support. It also shows Trump leading Biden in southern Minnesota, western Minnesota and northeastern Minnesota. Biden has an advantage in the Twin Cities:

This poll is consistent with other research showing a close race in Minnesota. For example, a May McLaughlin & Associates poll showed Mr. Trump leading Mr. Biden by 3 points in the state, where no Republican presidential candidate has won. decades. In fact, the last time the state turned red was in 1972, when Republican Richard Nixon defeated Democrat George McGovern in a landslide of 520 electoral votes.
Trump came closest to flipping the state in the 2016 election, losing by a margin of 1.5 percentage points to Hillary Clinton’s 46.4 percent, receiving 44.9 percent of the vote.
President Trump has since made it clear he thinks he can win Minnesota, calling this a “heavy decision” for the state.
“In my opinion, it’s not that blue,” Trump told KNSI radio. “We’re going to take massive action in Minnesota. I promise.”
